Discovering Love

Updated: Jan 31, 2021

You put Your Love on the line

To bear the weight of sin that was mine

Washing my river of wrongs

Into the sea of Your Infinite Love

With arms held high

Lord I give my life

Knowing I’m found in Christ

In Your Love forever

With all I am

In Your grace I stand

The greatest of all romance

Love of God

My Savior

Mercy roars like hurricane winds

Furious love laid waste to my sin

With arms held high

Lord I give my life

Knowing I’m found in Christ

In Your Love forever

To the One who has rescued my soul

To the One who has welcomed me home

To the One who is Savior of all

I sing forever.

Dear friend,

Do you realize how loved you are? Have you ever felt true love - a love so deep that you can only respond with an unshakeable devotion? This love I speak of is not an earthly love. The kind of love I am speaking of is life-changing, life-giving; it’s the most humble, yet the most powerful.

This love is God. This love is from God.

And this love is what I am living for. For the past few years, I have been hearing God more and more calling me to Him, to His heart. On New Year’s Eve, looking head on into 2021, as the clock ticked closer to midnight and a new day, a new year approached, I reflected back on the prior year then looked into the unknown of a new year and cried. I didn’t cry from sadness but hopefulness and from a heart moved by God’s Spirit. I can’t explain the tears completely, but I do know it was the Lord. He has been moving mountains in my heart, He has shown me His greatest love. I don’t know what 2021 and beyond holds, but I know this love of God will carry me through it.

As I thought about my “word” for the new year, I knew it had to be love and more specifically – godly love. To know God is to know love and His love is my desire. Therefore, what does this mean? What does it look like? How do I show godly love? What does the Bible say love is and how do I apply that same love in my daily actions? Growing up, I have always known about God and have been told that God loves me, but I felt personally encompassed by His love for the first time in December 2016 and that’s when my direction and devotion shifted. As my blog and Instagram describes, I want to live loved & wholeheartedly in the Lord. I want to share that with others and show, as much as I can with the help from the Holy Spirit, what that looks like.

For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, as I am fully known. Now these three remain: faith, hope and love – but the greatest of these is love. I Corinthians 13:12-13

Along this journey, I will share what I’ve learned. But I will start here:

“The true definition of love is found in who God is ~ Love is one of the surest things we can know about God; a virtue greater than even faith and hope.” (She Reads Truth, Fruit of the Spirit Bible study).

I hope you grasp how loved you are. God loves you so deeply. His love does not break our hearts, His love is eternal, everlasting and abounding. Our hearts will always be overflowing with God’s love, so what should we do with that? Allow it to spill into our lives, running over our feet, onto the next person so that they may come to know, intimately, who this love is from and how beautiful it truly is.

Let this year be the year we dive deep into God's heart, His love and His character. Let this year be the year we proclaim Him and share His love.

With Love,

Jennie
